La 23 iunie 2011, Parlamentul European a reusit sa ajunga la o decizie, directiva privind noiile norme in domeniu protectiei consumatorilor fiind votata cu 615 voturi pentru, 16 impotriva si 21 abtineri.<\/p>\n
\n\tSchimbariile aduse prin noile norme dau anumite drepturi de necontestat consumatorilor, in special in domeniul on-line. Astfel, prin aceasta directiva se consolideaza drepturile in ceea ce priveste returnarea platii si se introduce o perioada de 14 zile, perioada in care se poate schimba decizia privind cumpararea unui produs. Mai mult, se introduce un formular model pentru renuntarea la un astfel de contract si se sporeste transparenta preturilor oferite acestor produse informatice.<\/p>\n
\n\tAndreas Schwab, raportorul \u015fi negociatorul-\u015fef, a declarat ca: "Am vrut sa reglementam in principal contractele in afara spatiilor comerciale si la distanta, cum ar fi tranzactiile online, deoarece acesta este modul in care au loc cele mai multe vanzari transfrontaliere". Mai mult, acesta a adaugat ca : ” Noua directiva este astfel un bun exemplu in cazul in care Europa aduce mai multe beneficii atat consumatorilor, cat si a comerciantilor. Am ajuns la un acord bine echilibrat, care intruneste atat cerintele consumatorilor cat si interesele de afaceri".<\/p>\n
